Why Is My Intex Pool Filter Not Pumping Water?

Do you own an Intex pool but noticed that your pool filter is not pumping water? While this can be a frustrating situation, there are a few common reasons why this may be happening. Read on to find out what could be causing your pool filter issues and how you can fix them.

Subheading 1: Check the Power Supply

The first thing you should do is check whether the power supply is connected properly. Ensure that the power cord for the pool filter is plugged in and that there are no loose connections. Check for any blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers.

Subheading 2: Clean the Pool Filter

If your pool filter isn't pumping water, it could be clogged with debris. Check the pool filter to see if it needs cleaning. A dirty filter will obstruct the flow of water, so it's important to keep it clean. Remove the filter cartridge and rinse it with clean water. If it's very dirty, you may need to soak it in a cleaning solution.

Subheading 3: Check the Pump Basket

The pump basket may also be causing your pool filter to not pump water. Check the basket and remove any debris that may be obstructing the flow of water. If you have a sand filter, you'll need to backwash it.

Subheading 4: Inspect the Impeller

The impeller is responsible for circulating and filtering water in the pool filter. If there's an issue with the impeller, the pool filter may not pump water correctly. Turn off the breaker, remove the motor cover and take out the impeller assembly. Inspect it for any damage or debris that may be obstructing the flow of water. Clean it thoroughly, and if it's damaged, you may need to replace it.

Subheading 5: Check the System Valves

Last but not least, check the valves in the pool system. Ensure that they're all in the correct position and that none of them are closed. Check the backwash valve and ensure that it's set to the proper position.

Conclusion:

If your Intex pool filter is not pumping water, it doesn't always mean that there's a serious problem. Often, it's just a minor issue that can be fixed quickly. Check the power supply, clean the pool filter, inspect the impeller, check the pump basket, and examine the system valves. By following these steps, you should be able to identify the problem and fix it, so you can get back to enjoying your pool. If these solutions don't work, you may need to call in a professional.

----Yes, they can. Silica sand is mainly used for filtration, while activated carbon is mainly used for adsorption. Silica sand is effective for higher water quality requirements. When use them together, silica sand should be placed on the bottom layer, and then activated carbon should be filled on the sand, but the cost of using two media is much higher.
