what setting should pool filter be on when vacuuming

Author: Poolking - Swimming Pool Equipment Manufacturer

When it comes to cleaning your pool, using a vacuum is one of the most effective methods. However, if you're not sure what setting your pool filter should be on, it can be a bit tricky. In this article, we'll discuss the different filter settings and which one is best for vacuuming your pool.

Understanding Pool Filter Settings

Before we dive into the specifics of what setting your pool filter should be on when vacuuming, let's take a closer look at the different filter settings available. There are three main settings: filter, backwash, and rinse.

Filter: This is the standard setting for your pool filter. When set to "filter," water is drawn from the pool and pushed through the filter, which removes debris and other contaminants.

Backwash: This setting is used to clear out debris and dirt that has accumulated in the filter. When set to "backwash," water is pushed through the filter in the opposite direction, causing the debris to be pushed out of the filter and into the waste line.

Rinse: This setting is used after backwashing to ensure that all debris has been removed from the filter. When set to "rinse," water is pushed through the filter in the normal direction, but without the debris and dirt.

What Setting Should You Use When Vacuuming?

Now that we've covered the different filter settings, let's move on to which setting you should use when vacuuming your pool. The answer is simple: filter.

When you vacuum your pool, you are essentially pushing water through the vacuum head and then into the filter. As water passes through the filter, it removes dirt, debris, and other contaminants from the water. This means that you want to be sure that your filter is in good working order and set to "filter" before you start vacuuming.

Vacuuming with Dirty Filters

If your filter is dirty or clogged, it can make vacuuming your pool less effective. When the water cannot flow through the filter properly, the vacuum will not be able to pick up debris effectively. This can result in a lot of frustration and wasted time.

That's why it's important to keep your filter clean and regularly maintenanced. This will ensure that it is always in good working order and ready to help you keep your pool clean.

Conclusion

Keeping your pool clean is important for both the health of your swimmers and the longevity of your pool. Using a vacuum is a great way to help remove debris and other contaminants from your pool, but it's important to ensure that your filter is in good working order and set to "filter" before you start vacuuming.

Remember to clean and maintain your filter regularly to ensure that your pool stays clean and healthy all season long. With these tips, you can enjoy crystal clear water all summer long.
