How to Install an Above Ground Pool Filter

Are you tired of continuously cleaning your above ground pool? Installing a filter is the solution! A filter will help remove debris and dirt from the pool, ultimately keeping it clean and clear. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install an above ground pool filter.

1. Determine the location for your filter system

Before purchasing a filter system, it’s essential to decide where it will be positioned. The ideal location for the filter is close to the electrical outlet, where the pool pump is positioned. The filter should be at least three meters from the pool.

2. Assemble the Pool Filter System

Most above ground pool filter systems come with instructions on how to assemble. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully, ensuring that all parts are in place before beginning to install the filter system.

3. Install the Pump and Strainer Basket

Attach the pump to the filter system according to the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure it's tightly fastened to avoid leaks. Connect the strainer basket to the pump by screwing it tightly.

4. Connect the Hoses

Attach the hoses that come with the filter system to the pump and filter system. Make sure that they are correctly tightened and secure.

5. Fill the Filter System with Water

Fill the filter system with water, ensuring that the water level reaches halfway up the skimmer. Water helps to prime the system and make sure it's ready to filter dirt and debris from the pool. Also, ensure that the multiport valve is set to the 'Filter' position.

6. Prime the Pump

Prime the pump by opening the lid to the strainer basket and filling it with water. This ensures that the pump can suck water from the pool, up into the pool filter system.

7. Check for Leaks

Inspect to see if any hoses or connections are leaking. Check the different areas for leaks, including the pump, filter, and hoses. Tighten or replace the connections if necessary.

8. Test Run the Filter System

Turn the system on and let it run for a few hours. Observe that everything is functioning correctly, including the flow of water and air through the circulation system. If you notice anything unusual or suspect any malfunction, turn off the filter, and contact a professional for assistance.

In conclusion

By following these simple steps, you can easily install an above ground pool filter. It’s an investment that will save you time and money in the long run, as less time will be spent cleaning the pool, and the water will remain clearer for more extended periods. Remember to reference the manufacturer's instructions, and observing all safety precautions is key to a successful installation.

----Yes, they can. Silica sand is mainly used for filtration, while activated carbon is mainly used for adsorption. Silica sand is effective for higher water quality requirements. When use them together, silica sand should be placed on the bottom layer, and then activated carbon should be filled on the sand, but the cost of using two media is much higher.
----It is best to replace the silica sand of sand filters every 1-2 years for the following reasons:
a During backwashing, the filtration bed volume will expand upwards by 1.2 to 1.3 times. The water flow will drive the filtration layer to flow up and down, causing the filtration material particles to collide with each other. Backwash will let the small sand evacuate.
b.Some silica sands will be welded when the acid and alkali are changed due to insufficient purity;
Therefore, the longer the time, the worse the filtering effect of the sand tank. Since backwashing will consume and take away some sand, we need to replace the sand in the sand tank within the specified period.
