how to install above ground pool filter and pump

Author: PoolKing - Pool Sand Filter Manufacturers

If you have an above ground pool or are considering installing one, it's essential to know how to install the filter and pump properly. Not only does this ensure that your pool stays clean and clear, but it can also extend the life of your equipment, ultimately saving you money in the long run. Here's a step-by-step guide to installing your above ground pool filter and pump, including some handy tips and tricks along the way.

1. Choose the right location

Before you begin, it's important to choose the right location for your filter and pump. It should be close enough to the pool to allow for easy plumbing, but not so close that it will become damaged by splashing or the elements. Additionally, it should be on a stable surface that can support the weight of the equipment.

2. Assemble the filter and pump

Once you've chosen the right location, it's time to assemble your filter and pump. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for specific details, but most filters and pumps will require attaching hoses and fittings, and possibly wiring the motor. It's important to ensure that all connections are secure and tight to prevent leaks.

3. Install the base

After the filter and pump are assembled, it's time to install the base. Most above ground pools come with a filter and pump base, which should be positioned on a level surface. If your pool does not come with a base, you can purchase one separately, or use a flat, stable surface such as a cement slab.

4. Connect the hoses

Once the base is in place, it's time to connect the hoses. These will usually connect to the pump on one end and the skimmer and return fittings on the other. It's important to ensure that the hoses are not kinked or twisted, and that they are securely attached to prevent leaks.

5. Prime the pump

Before turning on the pump, it's important to prime it. This involves filling the pump with water to ensure that it can create suction and properly circulate water through the filter. To prime the pump, simply fill the pump basket with water, close the lid, and turn on the pump. You should see water begin to flow through the hoses.

6. Turn on the system

After priming the pump, it's time to turn on the system. This is usually done by flipping the switch on the motor. You should see water begin to flow through the hoses and into the filter. Check for leaks and adjust connections if necessary. It's also a good idea to run the system for a few hours and check the filter to ensure that it is collecting debris.

In conclusion, installing an above ground pool filter and pump may seem daunting, but it's actually a fairly simple process. By following these steps and paying attention to details, you can ensure that your pool stays clean and clear all season long.

Using non metallic components fiberglass pressure tanks are rapidly replacing steel tanks in numerous applications. Fiberglass vessels offer several advantages in comparison with steel vessels .
Fiberglass vessels have a mechanical and chemical resistance superior to steel . Fiberglass tanks do not rust or corrode and are able to withstand damage from many types of water treatment chemicals.
----It is best to replace the silica sand of sand filters every 1-2 years for the following reasons:
a During backwashing, the filtration bed volume will expand upwards by 1.2 to 1.3 times. The water flow will drive the filtration layer to flow up and down, causing the filtration material particles to collide with each other. Backwash will let the small sand evacuate.
b.Some silica sands will be welded when the acid and alkali are changed due to insufficient purity;
Therefore, the longer the time, the worse the filtering effect of the sand tank. Since backwashing will consume and take away some sand, we need to replace the sand in the sand tank within the specified period.
