how much pool filter cost

Author: Poolking - Swimming Pool Equipment Manufacturer

Introduction:

Swimming pools are a great way to cool off and relax during hot summer days. However, when it comes to maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of a swimming pool, a pool filter is a must-have. Pool filters are designed to remove debris, bacteria, and other impurities from your pool water. There are different types of pool filters available in the market, and each one comes with a different price tag. In this article, we will discuss how much a pool filter costs and which factors affect its price.

Types of pool filters:

Before discussing the cost of a pool filter, it is important to know about the types of pool filters available in the market. There are three types of pool filters – sand filters, cartridge filters, and DE filters. Each type has its advantages and disadvantages, and the cost varies accordingly.

1. Sand filters:

Sand filters are the most common type of pool filter used by homeowners. They are affordable, easy to maintain, and can last for 5-10 years. The cost of a sand filter varies from $150 to $700, depending on the size and brand.

2. Cartridge filters:

Cartridge filters are a bit more expensive than sand filters, but they are more efficient in removing smaller particles from your pool water. They require less maintenance and can last for up to 5 years with proper care. The cost of a cartridge filter ranges from $200 to $800, depending on the size and brand.

3. DE filters:

DE filters are the most efficient type of pool filter, as they can remove particles as small as 5 microns. They are a bit more expensive and require more maintenance than sand or cartridge filters. The cost of a DE filter ranges from $400 to $1,500, depending on the size and brand.

Factors affecting the cost of a pool filter:

The cost of a pool filter depends on various factors, such as:

1. Type of filter:

As discussed earlier, the cost of a pool filter depends on its type. Sand filters are the cheapest, while DE filters are the most expensive.

2. Size of the filter:

The size of the filter depends on the size of your pool. The bigger the pool, the larger the filter required, which increases the cost.

3. Brand:

The brand also affects the cost of a pool filter. Well-known brands are usually more expensive than lesser-known brands.

4. Installation:

If you are installing a pool filter yourself, you will save money on installation costs. However, if you hire a professional, it will add to the overall cost.

5. Additional features:

Some pool filters come with additional features, such as a backwash valve or pressure gauge. These features increase the cost of the filter.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the cost of a pool filter depends on various factors, such as the type, size, brand, installation, and additional features. Sand filters are the cheapest, while DE filters are the most expensive. However, the cost of a pool filter should not be the only factor considered when purchasing one. The efficiency and maintenance requirements of the filter should also be considered. A pool filter is a long-term investment, and choosing the right one can save you both time and money in the long run.

----Yes, they can. Silica sand is mainly used for filtration, while activated carbon is mainly used for adsorption. Silica sand is effective for higher water quality requirements. When use them together, silica sand should be placed on the bottom layer, and then activated carbon should be filled on the sand, but the cost of using two media is much higher.
